The group met on Thursday, January 27th in Showker Hall to come up with rules and regulations and to create a schedule for the rest of the semester. We first started talking about what we all expected from each of the group members dealing with their responsibilities. We focused on making the expectations reasonable but strict enough to get the job done.
Next, we talked about consequences and what would happen if any of the expectations were not met from certain group members. In deciding these consequences we agreed that their would be some leeway because schedule conflicts do arise. (that's my fault ninety percent of the time thanks to MIF).
Lastly, we laid out a schedule of when we could plan to meet to do our projects. We scheduled everything pretty close together so that we could save time for ourselves later if we needed it.
Overall, our rules meeting was very productive and we felt as though we created a great system to ensure success in the class. We also had fun doing it because it took us 15 minutes and probably 30 shots to get this picture right.

JMU vs. VCU Basketball Game

A couple weeks ago, Brittany, Stephanie, Drew, Zak and I attended the JMU-VCU basketball game. In the beginning, JMU jumped out to an early lead and we all hoped they would hang on to it. Unfortunately, VCU took over, gained the lead and didn't let it go for the rest of the time. However there were a few pretty questionable calls by the refs. Towards the end of the game, JMU was only down two and VCU had the ball when one of their players travelled but apparently the ref is blind and didn't call it. Later on that possession, VCU nailed a 3 to pretty much ice the game. Although we didn't come away with a W, it was a hard fought game that remained close the entire time. We were all pretty disappointed at the loss and angry at the ref for not making the travel call. To ease our pain, we talked some trash to visiting VCU fans.

Studying for GCOMM Exam #1

On Sunday, February 6th, Zak, Stephanie, Ian, Drew and I met on the second floor of Showker to study for our GCOMM exam that would take place the next day. None of us were looking forward to taking the exam on Monday after a very busy and tiring weekend, but studying as a group helped us maintain focus. We decided the best way for us to utilize our time would be to split up the study guide questions among group members. We each completed our own set of questions, and afterwards we discussed each question in depth as a group so that everyone would have all of the answers. By studying in this way we were able to talk about each question and answer any questions that any of the group members had. Overall, I think this was a very successful group study session, and we all felt very prepared for our test the next day.

Ballllin'

Last week we decided to get together at Urec and play some basketball. Brittany was a little skeptical going in. We shot around for a while and then decided to play some 3 on 2 (Brittany, Zak, and Ian against Steph and Drew). It turns out that Brittany ended up scoring the most points for her team. Things got pretty competitive when Zak THOUGHT he was gonna be better than Steph, but he was wrong. Just kidding, but we had a lot of fun and got some exercise doing it!
